Title I Learning Assistance Program (LAP) Services

Title I services are federally funded and are designed to support those students that are struggling in school. This resource is designed so that each school building has the flexibility to designate the service area and target population to maximize the benefit for their particular school. For example, building A can target K-3 reading because of a result of a needs assessment showing that the students in that grade range are struggling the most, whereas building B can target 4-6 math. It all depends upon the needs of the students and plan that the school develops. A rule of thumb is that the lowest quartile (25%) are served in the target grades and subject area. For questions, please contact the Special Services department at (253) 891-6040 or your neighborhood school and someone will be able to help you.
