Life-threatening Conditions

Under state law, the parent of any child who has a life-threatening condition or allergy is required to complete an emergency care plan and/or an anaphylaxis plan. School district policy must allow for any student to possess and self-administer medication to treat the student’s asthma or anaphylaxis if specified conditions are met.

Furthermore, for conditions that require medical procedures to be performed at school, a parent
must submit a medication or treatment order to the school. Students with life-threatening conditions will not be allowed to attend school without an emergency care plan and/or an anaphylaxis plan.

Students with diabetes need to have an Individual Health Care Plan developed. Please contact the Health Services Office, 253.891.6051 to set up an appointment.
