Elementary After-School Sports Program

The Sumner School District, Elementary After School Sports program serves boys and girls in all eight of the district's elementary schools. The program offers a combination of intramural and interscholastic play between schools in the sports of volleyball, basketball, and track and field for 5th and 6th grade students.

The program is guided by three main goals:
1. Development of positive character traits
2. Development of sound fundamentals
3. Maximize participation

Each season is approximately seven to eight weeks in length and features a schedule of four interscholastic games with a culminating jamboree of all eight schools held at Sumner High School.

The Elementary After School Sports program is an integral part of the districts articulated athletic program, which includes a Parks and Recreation program, a full compliment of junior high athletics, strong relationships with a number of community youth sports programs, and climaxing with a full array of high school sports offerings competing in the 4A South Puget Sound League.

Athletic Participation Fees
Students will be assessed an athletic participation fee to help offset rising costs of extracurricular staff, coaches, officials and transportation. Athletes pay a fee for each sport in which they participate during each season. The fee will be waived or reduced for students who qualify for free and reduced-price lunch program. Fees will be collected at the school during athletic clearance and registration.

Elementary $10
Middle School $15
High School $25; $10 for reduced price lunch
(All students who qualify for free lunch will have the fee waived.)
