Earthquake Response Plan

Students and staff in the Sumner School District practice “Drop, Cover and Hold” as a response to earthquake.

What Does It Mean?
blue star bullet Drop – under something sturdy and taller than you are
blue star bullet Cover – the back of your head and neck with one arm
blue star bullet Hold on – in case the thing you’re under moves
blue star bullet Close your eyes – protect your eyes

Evacuate only when instructed to do so!

Immediately following an earthquake school administration and staff will evacuate all or parts of the facility as needed, account for all students and staff, determine if there are injuries, and conduct an assessment of structural damamge.

Students and staff should expect aftershocks.
