FAMILY ACCESS SYSTEM OUTAGE
A scheduled update to WesPac, our student records system, requires a system-wide outage.  Family Access will be unavailable for several days, beginning April 24, 2008, to complete a software upgrade.  During the outage you will not be able to access your child’s grades, attendance or lunch accounts online.  The upgrade is expected to be complete by April 26, 2008.  We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

SCHOOL MESSAGES
Stay connected to school events and activities at home and at work by subscribing to receive free School Messages e-mail.  Families will receive messages regarding early dismissals, late arrivals, emergency closures, and parent alerts.  You will also be notified when the school newsletter has been posted to the school Web page.  Click on School Messages on our Web page to subscribe .

FAMILY-FRIENDLY CALENDAR
A new family-friendly calendar with consistent release days for students is now being developed for the 2008-09 school year.  The revised school calendar will be an improvement to the current mix of full-day, half-day, late start and early release days scheduled during the year.  Teachers, staff and students can continue progress toward getting all students to academic standards with a calendar that provides time to improve teaching and learning through professional development opportunities for teachers.

Families and community members are invited to attend one of two open house sessions, provide feedback on school schedule options and learn more about student release time.

Calendar Open House:  April 10, 2008

  • Session I:  4:00 – 5:30 p.m.
    Daffodil Valley Elementary
  • Session II:  6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

GRADES, ATTENDANCE, LUNCH ACCOUNTS AND MORE!
To make it easier for families to be involved in their child’s education, we provide a Web-based tool to view student information anytime by using Family Access!  Families can view schedules, grades, attendance, fines, fees, lunch account balances and other student information.  Elementary grades are not currently part of this system, although there is an online report card system for students in grades K-5.

Our student information system, known as Family Access, is available through the district Web site at www.sumner.wednet.edu and is linked from every school Web page.  To use this software you need to have a user login and password.  The login and password assigned to you will work for all the children in your household, regardless of grade level or school of attendance.
