College Bound Scholarships for 7th and 8th Grade Students
The College Bound Scholarship is a financial aid program for 7th and 8th grade students who are eligible to participate. It is designed to inspire students to begin making their college and career plans without worrying about the cost of attending college.
Eligible students sign a pledge promising to graduate from high school, maintain a 2.0 GPA and be good citizens. In exchange, the state of Washington will pay for their college tuition and books - for up to four years or until the student earns a bachelor's degree.
This four-year scholarship covers the cost of college tuition, fees, and a $500 stipend for books for low-income students who sign a pledge in 7th or 8th grade, promising to graduate from high school and demonstrate good citizenship.
The College Bound Scholarship provides hope and incentive for students and families who otherwise might not consider college as an option because of its cost.
Eligibility
Students may apply for the College Bound Scholarship if they meet one of the following criteria:
Are eligible to receive free and reduced-price lunch
Receive TANF benefits
Are a foster youth
Meet the income standards
Deadline to apply is June 30 of your 8th grade year. This year's 7th graders are also advised to sign-up this year, but have until the end of their 8th grade year to complete the enrollment process. Students are encouraged to apply online. Paper applications are also available in the middle school offices.
If you have questions or would like more information, please contact College Bound staff at 1-888-535-0747 or by e-mail at collegebound@hecb.wa.gov.

Encourage your child to join a Club!
Joining a club is a great way to get involved and make new friends! At MMS, we have a variety of clubs from which kids can choose.
A few of our clubs are grade-level specific, or might require the student to apply for club membership. The majority of our clubs can be attended by students at all grade levels. Students can find out more information about clubs by looking at the posters located in the hallway by the counseling office.

ASB Leadership Club
Any student who would like to participate in a club needs to purchase an ASB card and have a current activity eligibility form on file. Students may pay for ASB in the attendance or main office. Activity forms can be picked up in the main office, student services (attendance) office and the counseling office.
Please remember, transportation is not provided after school, so we’ve made sure to offer clubs at lunch time students would enjoy.
