Student-Led Conferences
Schedule Today for Best Date and Time Selection
Your Hawk has been working diligently to prepare for a conference with you. One goal of the Sumner School District Board of Directors is to implement individual parent/student/educator conferences for our middle school students. This will be a special time for your child to share with you his or her portfolio containing self-assessment materials, standardized test results, goals identified, and plans to be implemented for continued success and improvement.
Lakeridge is using a Web-based application called pickAtime to schedule parent/teacher conferences.
You are going to be amazed with how easy this program is to use. With Internet access, you can schedule your conference, print the schedule, and have an e-mail reminder of the appointment sent to you. You will be done in less than four minutes! To schedule your conference, simply click on this scheduling link or click the one on the Lakeridge Web site.
https://www.pickatime.com/client?ven=11602978.
Should you later need to change the date or time, you will be able to do that also. However, as time passes, more and more time slots will be filled by other parents.
If you do not have Internet access, please contact school secretary Carol Pizano at 253-891-5118 to schedule your conference.
College Bound Scholarships for 7th and 8th Grade Students
The College Bound Scholarship is a financial aid program for 7th and 8th grade students who are eligible to participate. It is designed to inspire students to begin making their college and career plans without worrying about the cost of attending college.
Eligible students sign a pledge promising to graduate from high school, maintain a 2.0 GPA and be good citizens. In exchange, the state of Washington will pay for their college tuition and books - for up to four years or until the student earns a bachelor's degree.
This four-year scholarship covers the cost of college tuition, fees, and a $500 stipend for books for low-income students who sign a pledge in 7th or 8th grade, promising to graduate from high school and demonstrate good citizenship.
The College Bound Scholarship provides hope and incentive for students and families who otherwise might not consider college as an option because of its cost.
Eligibility
Students may apply for the College Bound Scholarship if they meet one of the following criteria:
Are eligible to receive free and reduced-price lunch
Receive TANF benefits
Are a foster youth
Meet the income standards
Deadline to apply is June 30 of your 8th grade year. This year's 7th graders are also advised to sign-up this year, but have until the end of their 8th grade year to complete the enrollment process. Students are encouraged to apply online. Paper applications are also available in the middle school offices.
If you have questions or would like more information, please contact College Bound staff at 1-888-535-0747 or by e-mail at collegebound@hecb.wa.gov.
