Washington College Bound Scholarship for 7th and 8th graders!

Now, thanks to a new state-sponsored scholarship, there is hope and incentive for students who otherwise might not consider college as an option because of their family's income.

This four-year scholarship, in combination with other state aid, can help cover the cost of college tuition, fees and books for low-income students who sign a pledge in the seventh or eighth grade. But, this year's eighth grade class only has until June 1 to apply!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Lakeridge Family:

This is such a great time of the year.  New sports seasons are underway.  Kids are able to enjoy spending a greater amount of time outdoors.  Families are considering travel plans and weekend activities.  But gosh, do not forget about school, assignments, projects and perhaps even more assignments.  Please help your child to coordinate the family's needs with his or her homework completion.  Use your child's school planner to include not only school assignments, but to also include the family's plans.  That way, there should be no surprises.

Nice Weather and Clothing Choices
The weather will soon reach 80 degrees.  However, we are not a beach.  Please check your child's attire so we do not have to address the too short, too skimpy, too bare, too low-cut, too high-cut, too see-through fashion issues.  Common sense, good judgment and parent teamwork will allow us to continue our academic focus.  We are not interested in being “Fashion Police.”

Progress Report and 2008-2009 Fall Sports Eligibility
The fourth quarter grade point average (GPA), not the semester grade, determines eligibility for fall sports.  It must be at least a 2.0 GPA and passing all classes.  This is especially important for eighth grade students who desire to participate at the high school level.  Every year, we have desperate parents requesting "tons" of last minute make up work.  I strongly suggest if your child needs to get busy, he or she needs to get busy right now.  It is realistically not feasible to provide make up work during the last weeks of school.

As always, we are just a telephone call or an e-mail away.
