From the Principal's Desk
Dear Laker Families:
As the clocks “fall back” this time of year, I want to thank all of our Laker families for participating in the recent parent-teacher conferences. I’m always proud of the effort our teachers and staff make to accommodate family schedules to have this important conversation about our students and their learning.
Thank you to all of our Lakers for actively participating in the Parent-Teacher Organization’s fall fundraising activity. To celebrate the success of the fundraiser, we’ll be having a schoolwide Pajama Day on November 23. I’ll also be “clowning around” in makeup and a costume in the very near future.
Our cool, wet, Pacific Northwest weather is settling in and this year we all have a heightened awareness of the upcoming flu season. Our School District is working in coordination with county and state health agencies in sharing information as the flu season progresses. Our state health department and the state Superintendent of Public Instruction have determined that the most important thing students and families can do is stay home when they feel ill. In addition, we frequently remind our Lakers to wash their hands often with soap and water and to wipe noses or mouths with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. If no tissue is available, we’ve taught students to cough or sneeze “into their elbow.”
Some other information to note:
- Our Lakers will be holding a winter coat drive from November 9 through November 20. Collected new and gently used coats for families will be distributed in the Bonney Lake area.
- We’re putting the finishing touches on our annual Veterans Day slide show that will take place on Friday, November 13. If you have photos of family members in uniform that you would like to be included in the presentation, please get those to the office by November 6.
- The next PTO meeting will take place on Monday, November 9, in conjunction with the Skate Night at Tiffany’s in Puyallup.
- Please note that there is no school on November 11 for Veterans Day and November 25 (elementary students only) for a teacher workday and November 26 - 27 for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
As always, if you have any questions or ideas, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Chuck Eychaner, Principal
