Some elementary schools offer a tuition-based, full-time program on a space available basis. Full-time kindergarten students attend school every day and have the same school calendar as students in grades 1-5. Students enrolled in full-time kindergarten receive extra instruction time to learn basic skills for first grade.
Full-time Kindergarten Rates
Registration Deposit (applied to June tuition): $100
Full Pay Monthly Tuition: $325
All children enrolling for kindergarten for the coming school year must be five years old by August 31, prior to the start of school. When registering a child for school, families should bring:
- Proof of child’s birth date (birth or hospital certificate, passport);
- Immunization information and child’s health history; and

Changes to 2011-12 School Calendar: Additional school days added
Students in the Sumner School District lost 4 days of instruction due to weather-related school closures in January. The four school days are scheduled as follows:
- The current school calendar includes 2 days for weather make-up in May
May 25 and May 29, 2012, are now SCHOOL DAYs for all students K-12.
- Two additional make-up days have been added to the last week of school
June 20 and June 21, 2012, are also SCHOOL DAYs for all students K-12. (June 21 is a half-day early dismissal for the last day of school.)

Our Explorers Are Ready!
During the months of May and June, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will be taking the Measurement of Student Progress (MSP). This is a state-wide academic test to show how students are doing in reading, math, writing and science. Our students will do well!
We need your help during this time to ensure all students have the optimum conditions in which to show their learning. Volunteers will need to meet with our office staff to review necessary school procedures during this time. We will have many trained teachers and trained classified staff, working with classes, small groups, and individual students throughout the entire school.
The schedule of testing is available on the web. Students need to be at school on time and be at school all day to complete these tests. Students absent for a day of testing will have make-ups on a different day. Students leaving in the middle of the test day will not be able to complete the testing on another day. Students will go to specialists, lunch and recess on test days.
- Students do their best when:
They have a good night’s sleep
They have had a nutritious breakfast
They are encouraged to do their best
They know that their teachers and families believe in them.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call the office at 253-891-4500.
Respectfully,
Susie Black
