Attendance
Students miss valuable learning experiences that often cannot be duplicated when they are tardy or absent from school. One of the keys to your child’s academic and social success in school is regular, on-time attendance. Several years ago, the Washington State legislature passed what has become known as the Becca Bill. This law requires schools to keep careful attendance records, work with families to improve student attendance, and mandates that chronically poor attendance having a negative impact on student achievement be reported to the juvenile court system. In order to prevent unexcused absences, it is extremely important you send a note or contact the office whenever your child is absent from school. A note verifying doctor appointments must be provided to the office when scheduled during school hours. Also, be sure to complete pre-arranged absence forms when you are planning to take your child out of school for non-illness related occasions.

Pre-school
Wave Riders preschool, located within Crestwood Elementary, is currently enrolling children ages 3-5 in our preschool program. Classes are offered Monday-Friday.
AM Class: 9:10AM-12:00 PM
PM Class: 1:00 PM-3:45 PM
(Wave Riders follows the Sumner School District calendar for holidays and breaks)

School Clinic: Free H1N1 vaccination for Sumner School District Students
The Health Department is offering school-based H1N1 vaccination clinics around Pierce County. Select districts have been assigned a date and a location where students may receive free vaccinations. These clinics are for H1N1 (swine flu) vaccination only. Students in the Sumner School District will be vaccinated on December 5, 2009, from 9 AM to 4 PM (or until the vaccine runs out). This clinic will be held in Fife.
