Changes in Elementary School Start Times for the 2013-14 School Year
For the 2013-14 school year, there will be an increase in instructional hours for students in kindergarten through 5th grade to meet the state mandate of 1000 hours of instruction. This will require a change in the elementary school day, with earlier start times for students.

• All elementary students will begin school 15 minutes earlier each day.
  
• Breakfast will be served 15 minutes earlier each day.
  
• The Recreation Department's Before and After School Program hours will not change.
  

New bus schedules will be posted on the Web in early July.

Late Start Elementary Schedule for Crestwood Elementary
Student Day: 9:05 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.
Wednesday Late Start: 10:35 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.

Office Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Register now for the 2013-14 school year: New Schedule for Red and Blue Kindergarten Classes
Beginning in September 2013, part-time kindergarten students will now attend school all day on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (red kindergarten) OR all day on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (blue kindergarten). The new schedule provides students with additional hours of instruction.

The District offers tuition-based, full-time kindergarten programs on a space available basis at select elementary schools. Families should contact their neighborhood school for registration information, or download a packet from the District Web site.

All children enrolling for kindergarten for the coming school year must be five years old by August 31, 2013.

Dear Crestwood Families:

We hope you will be joining us tomorrow night, Saturday, May 18, for Crestwood's PTA Art Auction. There are so many creative pieces of art on display in the office that will be auctioned along with many other items donated from the community.  It should be lots of fun!  This event will will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Crestwood's gym.  There will be limited dinner tickets sold at the door.  If you haven't already purchased tickets you are welcome to come just for the auction at no admission charge.          

MAP and MSP testing continues next week.  Please continue to be mindful of making sure that your child is at school each day.

Tuesday, May 21, is screening day for next year's incoming kindergarteners.  If you registered your child for kindergarten for next year, you will be receiving a reminder call on Monday with your child's screening time.

Tuesday, May 21, is also "PTA Literacy Family Night."   The event will be starting at 6:00 p.m. and will be held in the gym.  We hope to see a lot of you there.  

Wednesday, May 22, is a Student Waiver day in the Sumner School District.  There will be no school. 

Thursday, May 24, is "Field Trip" day for grades 1 and 2.
