Newsworthy

(Principal Update sent January 16, 2015, via school messages)

Dear Crestwood Families:

On January 27 our PTA, along with our Librarian, Ms. Smith, will be hosting a Family Literacy Night. "Winter Reading Fest" will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the gym with The Mitten, a reader's theater performed by Crestwood students. There will be a presentation from Catherine O’Brien, Pierce County Librarian, and Snow-etry- Haiku poems written by Crestwood students. Then, in the library, we will have a sweet snack and hot cocoa, a winter story craft and cozy, “fireside” reading & writing time in the library. Please keep in mind that crafts and snacks will be available while supplies last. If you have questions, concerns or interested in volunteering, please contact Emily Smith at emily_smith@sumnersd.org.

Substitute Teaching
Substitute teaching in the Sumner School District is very important to our mission of ensuring the best education for all of our students. When a staff member is absent, the substitute plays a key role in maintaining the safety of students and the continuity of the educational program. Our ability to staff our schools appropriately is dependent upon well qualified, dependable substitutes.  The District substitute pay rate is $135 per day and $76 per half day. Visit the Sumner School District Website to apply online.
