From the Principal's Desk
Hello Crestwood Families;
We were so happy to see so many of our Dads last Tuesday morning for "Donuts with Dads." We thank you for your patience and we promise to have more donuts next time! Moms, your turn is next. Join us for Muffins with Mom on Tuesday, February 23, at 8:40 am. We will be ready!
If you have a child who turns 5 years old by August 31, 2010, then it is time to think about Kindergarten Registration! Packets are available in the office and can be turned in starting March 1. Full-time tuition paying kindergarten will also be available (contingent upon interest) for $325.00 a month. Full-time students attend school with the 1-5 graders.
Our Science Fair was a big success and kudos to all of our participants. I hope our students will be encouraged to enter or just visit our Sumner School District K-8 Science Fair on February 6, from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, at Mountain View Middle School.
February promises to be another adventurous month of activity. Far and away, the most compelling issue that concerns every student in the district is the upcoming Replacement Levy on February 9. The Sumner School District will be asking voters to consider an Educational Program, Maintenance and Operations Levy proposition. Renewing this existing levy will maintain current education programs and services for all students.
In our district, the levy funds approximately 20% of our district budget. It is important to remember levy is not a new tax: it simply replaces the current levy measure approved by voters in 2006.
55 classroom teachers and educators
7 Campus Safety Officers
31 bus drivers and transportation staff
58 paraeducators, office support staff, maintenance and custodial workers
All after school athletics, drama and music programs
This election will be all vote by mail. There will not be any polling places open. While the official Election Day is February 9, ballots were in the mail on January 22. I hope you remember to mail in your ballot by February 9.
