Come One! Come All! Our 36th Annual Extravaganza!
Bonney Lake’s Extravaganza needs you! This year’s show will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, 7:30 – 8:30 p.m., in the Bonney Lake Elementary Multi-Purpose Room. We need a wide variety of creative acts to make a great show. Need some help or an idea? Ask Mrs. Selle or your classroom teacher!
2009 – 2010 Extravaganza Guidelines
All acts need to be practiced at home before auditions. Students need to sign up for an audition by Wednesday, November 18, 2009 so we can schedule our time. Sign up sheets will be in grade level pods.
Music and written lyrics must be submitted by Wednesday, November 18 to
Mrs. Selle. They must be appropriate for all ages in Grades K-5 or the student will be asked to change the music selection. This includes dance acts.
All acts will be limited to three (3) minutes maximum in length. If your act can be shorter, please do so. Many songs are longer due to repeating choruses, by making it shorter, we can have room for more student performances. Thank you for understanding. Students will be limited to one act unless performing with a large school-based group such as classrooms, Choir, etc.
To create a manageable length, the number of acts will be limited to insure approximately a one-hour show. We realize we will not be able to include all those who try-out. Thank you for understanding.
Acts might include, but are not limited to: Comedy, singing, dance (includes tap, jazz, ballet or modern), instruments (includes solo or small groups), poetry reading, skits and gymnastics.
Auditions will be held Wednesday, December 9 and Thursday, December 10, 2009 on the Music Stage. A letter will go home with your student’s for choice of audition date and must be returned to Mrs. Selle to be scheduled for the audition. Please have all students in an act audition on the same date. A phone is made available for students to be picked up after their audition.
The audition panel will include our Music Specialist, Mrs. Selle, and several parents.
There will be a full dress rehearsal on Monday, January 11, 2009. Costumes, music and props must be at this rehearsal. Rehearsal is held after school.
On Tuesday, January 12, 2010, there will be one show for students during the school day. All families and friends are invited to attend an evening performance for the BLE community. Our show time is at 7:30 p.m.
Please help your student with their home auditions and have them practice with you. See you at auditions!
Bonney Lake Elementary Family Survey
At Bonney Lake Elementary we value parents and families as partners in the education process. Research clearly shows more than anything else, what parents do in the home will determine the quality of student work in school. Creating a supportive learning environment at home has the greatest impact on increasing a student’s success in school. With this research-based knowledge, we are currently in the process of designing some learning opportunities for families.
Please indicate the learning opportunity topics your family would find valuable by placing X’s in the spaces provided:
_____Reading strategies to use at home when reading with your child
_____Math strategies to use at home
_____Creating a home learning environment
_____Study and/or organizational skills
_____Math and reading Games
_____Strategies and tools for writing with your child
_____Information about the new state test (previously known as the WASL)
_____Conflict resolution and problem solving strategies
_____Motivating your child to learn
_____Summer learning activities for your child
_____Learning activities for pre-school children ages birth to 5

We are also interested in forming learning partnerships with childcare providers in our area. We would greatly appreciate the name and number of your child’s childcare provider so that we may extend learning opportunities into our community.
