From the Principal's Desk
Dear Viking Families:
Bonney Lake Elementary continues to be a busy school with hardworking students and staff. So many end-of-the-year events are headed our way. Please be sure to stay tuned and mark your calendars for the following:
MSP & MAP
This month students in grades 3-5 are involved in MSP testing. Grades 4 and 5 will be taking the MSP reading and math assessments online. Grades K-2 are also taking the MAP assessment. Both of these tests provide important information about your child's learning progress and skill level. We will use this information to plan intervention and enrichment opportunities for each of our students. All is going very well. Thank you for encouraging your student to do their personal best, get good rest and eat a healthy breakfast each day.
Jog-A-Thon
Wow! This year's PTO Jog-A-Thon will raise close to $14,000.00! PTO uses these funds to provide a wide variety of activities and materials to our school. We thank you so much for your support!
Volunteer Breakfast
We want to thank our many volunteers for sharing their time and energy with our school. You make a difference in the lives of our students every day and we truly could not do it without you! We hope you will join us at our Volunteer Breakfast at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, June 8, in the library where we will have the opportunity to spoil you for a change!
IXL and RAZ Kids
We are very pleased to be able to offer two excellent programs to help boost your child's reading and math skills. IXL math and RAZ Kids Reading are available anywhere there is internet access. Our students are moving through the levels in both these programs. Please let us know if you are having difficulty accessing these programs or have any questions.
Reading Calendars
We recently tallied up our reading calendar minutes. So far this year students have read over a million minutes! This is a huge gain over last year! Thank you for helping your child gain a love for reading and encouraging your student to read, read, read. Let's set a record this year!
Battle of the Books
We were proud to host the District Battle of the Books event this year. The competition was fierce with Daffodil Valley Elementary (team 1) taking first place and Donald Eismann Elementary taking second place. We were very proud of our two Bonney Lake Elementary teams for participating in Battle of the Books and for pushing themselves to seek excellence!
Jogging Club
Students at BLE not only seek excellence in academics but push themselves to seek excellence in their health as well. During recess, students can choose to participate in Jogging Club. Their laps are tracked on their personal Jogging Club cards and total laps are tallied. So far, this year, students have ran/walked 2,100 miles.
Volunteers and Field Trip
Many grade levels will be having field trips in the several weeks. If you have been selected as a volunteer, please be sure you have registered through our online system. You may ask the front office staff for assistance.
Thanks again for all you do to help the Bonney Lake Vikings SAIL! Great things are happening every day!
