Building-Based Extended Learning Opportunities
Professional Development for Student Achievement
Buildings can access funds to provide additional opportunities for students to meet academic standards through extended learning activities such as before-and after-school programs. This allocation can also be used to add hours to part-time staff who provide extended learning for students. In addition, the building allocation can be used for professional growth for staff.
Cost: $115,000
Class Size Reduction
Fund additional teachers to maintain current teacher-student ratios and further reduce class size in grades K-4 where classrooms are available.
Cost: $2,300,000
Early Learning
Currently full-time kindergarten is fee-based, funded by tuition that parents pay. I-728 funds can subsidize full-time kindergarten to meet the academic need of more students, particularly those students with higher needs. Remaining funds will be used to plan early childhood learning opportunities for 3 and 4 year olds.
Cost: $135,000
High School Academic Intervention Programs
I-728 funds will support a teacher at each high school to coordinate and instruct intervention programs for students who have not met standard on the 10th grade WASL. Interventions may include study skills classes, credit recovery, summer programs, dropout prevention, and alternative placement. The allocation includes funds for resources to support these programs. These teachers would also oversee management of the state mandated Student Learning Plans for students in their building who do not pass the 10th grade WASL.
Cost: $151,000
