Sumner Middle School Modernization

A school modernization project to update and modernize major mechanical systems, improve wiring and technology infrastructure to support computers in the classroom and bring building up to all current energy, seismic, fire and life safety building codes.

• Project Start February 2008
• Tentative Modernization Start May 2010
• Tentative Project Completion December 2011

School modernization is not just a cosmetic fix.
This project will extend the useful life of this facility for years to come.

Update
The staff advance planning team for this school modernization project is now forming. The team will guide the architect’s work to ensure that the facility supports the educational program offered to students in the middle years. Successful middle school programs provide classrooms separated by grade level, space for students to do collaborative work and an environment that promotes flexible scheduling and grouping.
