School Board authorizes Replacement Levy

The Sumner School District Board of Directors has authorized a ballot measure for the February 2010 special election to replace the current levy approved by voters in 2006. Levy dollars provide 20% of the district’s general fund budget and help pay for classroom teachers and paraeducators, support staff including bus drivers, custodians, secretaries, student transportation services, athletic, drama, music and other extracurricular programs.

This is not a new tax, it simply replaces an existing one.

If approved by voters, the estimated rate for the first year of the levy is $2.93 per thousand, one of the lowest levy rates in our area. Property taxes, such as school levies and bonds, are tax-deductible for federal income tax purposes. Contact your tax advisor for more information.

This chart shows the total amount collected for each year of the levy and the estimated rate per thousand of assessed value.
