Sumner School Board approves recommendation to conduct deeper analysis of school boundaries

The Sumner School District Board of Directors approved a recommendation from the Superintendent to conduct a deeper analysis of district demographics and growth trends.  The district anticipates communicating minor boundary adjustments in May and will present the overall study to the School Board in the fall of 2014.

“We realize that boundary revisions first and foremost affect students and families,” said Superintendent, Dr. Sara Johnson. “Recent analysis shows the district demographics are changing rapidly and growth is occurring faster than what was originally anticipated.  We have grown by over 4% this school year and have reason to believe this growth trend will continue.  The current boundary proposals could lead to overcrowding at some of our schools in only a few short years.  It is essential that any changes we make have as little impact to families as possible, and ensures a positive long-term effect on the district as a whole.”
